Meet Method Ambassador Brittney Watts

Method Ambassador Brittney Watts’ horsemanship journey started on the back of a mule named Daisy May when she was 5 1/2 years old. “I’ve always loved anything and everything to do with horses. When I was 9, I got my first horse, Jewl, and did 4-H for 10 years,” she says. “Although my parents weren’t experienced horsemen when I first started taking lessons, they have always been extremely supportive of my love for horses and career choice from the start. The most valuable life lessons they have taught me are to have a hard-work ethic and always chase my dreams. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”

Brittney competed with Jewl in every discipline she could, and dreamed of studying at the Downunder Horsemanship Ranch. “My family came across Clinton 13 years ago at an expo, and while there were many trainers at the event, Clinton was the only one in our opinion who could explain how to train a horse to a non-horse person,” Brittney says. “I was impressed about how he focused on the psychology and philosophy of how horses think.”

Brittney’s passion for horses secured her a position at a show barn, where she learned how to prepare a horse for championship levels of competition and the responsibilities that come with caring for other people’s horses. “Communication is of the utmost importance when accepting a horse for training, and Clinton stressed that to us as well,” she says.

The Washington horsewoman considered the Academy the best venue to get hands-on instruction directly from Clinton and his clinicians. “I love interacting with people and working with horses,” Brittney says. “Being able to share the Method with others and helping them accomplish their goals is a dream come true.”
